Congratulations To Our Short Story Winners
This was a very successful year for the short story contest, which received a record-breaking
25 submissions from as far away as New Brunswick. After challenging deliberations, the
judges made the following choices:
-
1st Prize: "The Assizes", by Marianne Miller of Toronto and Kingston, ON. A evocative whodunnit about the itinerant court.
-
2nd Prize: "Applewood", by Lucinda Dopson of Delta, ON. A creepy tale of country justice.
-
3rd Prize: "The Trout", by Jane Watson of Ottawa, ON. A delicate vignette of a woman scorned.
Honourable Mentions:
- "Gas Chamber", by Ken McBeath of Perth, ON. A story of just desserts.
- "Not to be Trifled With", by Bill Newman of Ottawa, ON.
